You could call the choir the heart and soul of the club. Under the direction of Jane VanHouten and accompanist
Roberta Lewis-barton, their renditions of old-country songs, some of them poignant, some of them rousing, will move
you, and have you humming along! The Edelweiss Choir gives 3 main performances: the Grand Rapids Festival of
the Arts (in June), Oktoberfest West Michigan (in September), and a Christmas concert at St. Mary’s. Occasionally
they will sing in retirement homes and other festivals.
The choir is always looking for new members, so if you love German music and can carry a tune reasonably well,
consider joining! Call Linda at (616)490-1866 or Mary at (616)446-9431 if you are interested.
The choir meets on Tuesday’s at the Latvian Hall, downstairs at 7:00. We practice till 8:30 and have a social time
afterwards. There are two seasons: The Fall season runs from September till Christmas. The Spring session runs
from April till June. During January, February and March, the choir does not meet.
